Tallinn University has an important role as an educational innovator and developer of youth work, but also as implementer of educational innovation.
The aim of the development plan Fundamentals of the Cultural Policy until 2020 is to build a society which values creativity, to maintain and promote the Estonian national identity, to study, store and carry on cultural memory, and to create favourable conditions for the development of viable, open and diverse cultural space, along with participation in culture. One task specified in the TU development plan is the strengthening of Estonian cultural identity and promotion of national culture. Also, Tallinn University wishes to become a leader in digitizing cultural heritage and promoting its innovative use.
The purpose of the Development Plan of the Estonian Language 2011−2017 is to ensure the functioning of the Estonian language as the state language in all spheres of life and the teaching, research, development, and protection of the Estonian language and, thus, the preservation of the Estonian language over time. In the field of higher education, the aim is the strong position of Estonian as the language of higher education and science, supporting and valuing coherence of a knowledge-based society and sustainability of Estonian-medium education. Teaching, conducting research, developing and protecting the Estonian language is one activity field of Tallinn University.
Open Government Partnership Action Plan 2014–2016 (working version May 2014) sets the inclusive policymaking, transparency of state budget and development of public services as objectives for Estonia.
The aim of the Estonian Environmental Strategy 2030 is to determine long-term developmental directions for the preservation of the good state of the natural environment. The relations of the environmental sector to the economic and social sectors, and their influences on the surrounding natural environment and people, are to be conformed to at the same time as well.
Estonian Sport 2030 (working version) sets four bigger goals: the majority of the population is active and is involved with sports; activity and sports are an important branch of the economy that also provides employment; activity and sports carry coherence, spirit and positive values; Estonian sport is represented in an effective and dignified manner at international level.
