e results of analyses show that in all the analysed countries 11% of older men and 14% of older women had at least one limitation in basic activities of daily living (ADL) such as dressing, walking, eating, bathing, etc. (Figure 3). It is worth mentioning that a vast majority of them had only one limitation. As previously noted, there are big di erences between sexes and between the analysed countries. e greatest percentage of elder men with at least one ADL limitation can be found for France (16.5%), Belgium (14.2%) and Poland (13.6%), while the lowest – for Greece (6.2%), Italy (7.5%), Spain (7.6%) and Switzerland (7.6%). most o en older women reported at least one limitation in ADL
in Portugal (21.9%), Belgium (18.7%), Estonia (18.2%), Poland (17.7%) and France (16.3%), whereas the least frequently it was reported in Denmark (6.9%), Switzerland (9.4%) and Sweden (9.9%). e di erences described above, on the one hand, result from population age structures observed in those countries and, on the other hand, on the health status of older people.
