Mastering different counselling methodologies and techniques
plays an important role in health promotion. The role of an advisor is to help clients identify solutions and inspire them to take action. The counsellor will help you analyse past behaviours and experiences that can make sense of success stories and mistakes. The purpose of this process is learning and self-development. Everyone is responsible for their own development and for managing change. The role of the counsellor is to encourage the client on his or her self-discovery journey, using professional techniques and understanding the ethical boundaries of the job.
During the course a good general understanding of the different counselling opportunities and their application was developed. All of this was supported by the lecturer’s lively examples of practice and classroom discussions.
