liSteninG CourSeS from other eStonian univerSitieS
(ViSitinG Student StatuS)
You have the right to take courses from other Estonian universities (University of Tartu, Tal- linn University of Technology, Estonian Acad- emy of Arts, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Estonian University of Life Sciences) as a visiting student. To take courses from other universities as a visiting student:
ȣ you have to fill in a visiting student’s refer- ence form.
ȣ Register the reference form in the Aca- demic Affairs Office (Narva Road 25, room T-213).
ȣ Register to the courses and take confir- mation to the reference form from the university where you plan to study.
ȣ Bring the reference form back to your academic unit at Tallinn University and you will receive an assessment sheet.
reCoGnition of Prior learninG (rPl)
The aim of RPL is to develop connections between lifelong learning and different levels
of study, as well as with the labour market. RPL helps to bring fourth and appreciate a person’s knowledge, skills and experience irrespective of the way these were acquired.
RPL can be used...
... in fulfilling admission requirements;
... in continuing unfinished studies; ... as part of studies;
... in changing the curriculum;
... in attributing profession;
... in career planning.

and Study alloWanCeS
Need-based study allowance can be applied by a degree student who is studying with a full study load (30 ECTS per semester). The allowance is a national allowance, which is designed to support students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds in terms of their access to higher education, success in their stud- ies and completion of a study programme with a nominal duration. The allowance is given out by the Ministry of Education and Research.
Scholarship for students with high study results is given to support students with remarkable study results. A student has the right to apply for the scholarship after the second semester. There are two types of scholarships. One for students who pay tuition fee and the scholarship is reduction from the fee, it is given out by your academic unit. The other scholar- ship is paid centrally and is 100 euros per month for five months.
