Playing FF gives an example of different roles of the family and how communication shall work between parties involved.

FF is a great tool to show power behind words and how choosing them affects following communication. It teaches pupils to take responsibility for their actions and words, to deal with failed communication and to prevent conflicts.
§ 4. Competences

Through playing FF pupils can learn, how being ready for an immediate cooperation and being helpful will prevent getting into conflicts. It sets an example of effective communication.

Playing FF gives pupils an opportunity to see and then analyze the behavior of different parties (parent-child, child-child, parent-parent. They can play various situations over and over again, getting an different outcome every time, depending on the choices made. This game shows how being cooperative or being snappy will affect following communication. During or after finishing an episode, there is a good ground for a discussion on topic of which behavior will get pupils to their goals the fastest and which communication form is the most effective and the least emotionally draining.

Playing FF’s episodes will give a clear understanding, how different communication models work and to where each of them leads. It encourages pupils to be cooperative and to express themselves in a polite manner.

Concept of Learning and the Learning Environment
(4) in planning and carrying out learning
Fabulous Family is neutral to sex and age, it doesn’t set any specific demands on pupils health or cultural and family background – it can be played by everyone.
(6) contemporary and diverse study methods, means and techniques shall be used
Using Fabulous Family as a part of the lesson, will help to follow the requirement of the usage of contemporary and diverse study methods. The game itself uses audio and visual study resources, it combines improving reading skills in English and ability to analyze the impact of communication.

Division 5 Second Stage of Study (Grades 4-6)
§ 9. Competences in the second stage of study
(1) has an appreciation for harmonious human relationships, understands his or her role as a family members, friend, peer and pupil;
FF’s episodes are about family’s communication and playing them will give pupils an opportunity to play through various situations over and over again with a different outcome. Its purpose is to widen pupils understanding about importance of being cooperative and polite, to take responsibility one’s actions and encourage to apologize.
(3) values his or her ethnicity and culture among other ethnicities and cultures
FF teaches the value of compromising.
(4) is capable of planning and evaluating his or her activities
FF provides a ground to analyze one’s experiences, pupils can note one’s communication errors and discuss how to avoid them in the future.
(5) is capable of expressing, justifying and defending his or her opinion
FF teaches that good self-expression is the key to an healthy communication.
(6) is capable of listening to and reading in a mindful fashion age-appropriate texts
FF is a textual game, playing it will improve pupils abilty to read in a mindful fashion, which is necessary for analyzing the episodes.
(7) gets by in at least one foreign language in everyday communication situations
As the game is in English and the episodes are from everyday life, it will support learning communicating in English.

Division 6
Third Stage of Study (Grades 7-9)
§ 11. Competences in the third stage of study

FF teaches to make adjustments to his or her behaviour and to take responsibility for one’s actions.

As the game is in English, it supports learning communicating in English.

Playing FF gives a ground to critically analyzes one’s behavior in the past and encourages to improve one’s self-expression and behaviour in the future.

One of the goals of FF, is to aspire pupils to value relationships, to respect morals and good behaviour. Playing FF’s episodes will give them an opportunity to see the benefit of those values through game.
Social studies

Lazy Cats episode: First one is an example of a conflict and it shows, that arguing isn’t getting them to the solution. Instead, it is emotionally draining. Second one is an example of fairness, negotiating, cooperating and taking responsibility – all valuable social skills.

After playing through Lazy Cats episode, the next step is a group discussion to analyze why the conflict occured, how it could have been avoided and how to resolve differences.

Through first example pupils will see and learn, that by losing self-control the situation gets only worse. Second one shows, how self-control is the solution to the situation, it ends conflict quickly. After playing through Exit Screen episode, the next step is a group discussion to analyze the importance of self-control and what losing it will bring along. Lazy Cats episode shows how not being helpful, cooperative or not keeping your promise will affect family’s life. It’s shows that it is important to take responsibility, to be tolerant, to be caring. This episode can be used as a part of discussion about being helpful, cooperative, tolerant, caring, taking responsibility. Decision making, conflicts and problem solution. FF SEL game provides an safe enviroment to play through various conflicts over and over again, trying to find a solution. It teaches to deal with conflicts and to accept them as a part of life.

All episodes are showing that even at challenging times, it is important to show each ohter support and value regard for others. These are good examples of close and supportive family relations. Also good ground for a discussion about how to show one’s love regard to others.

Self-image and self-esteem. Self-analysis: identifying one’s personality traits, interests, abilities and values. Avoiding and resolving conflict. All episodes have an example is about the conflict getting worse, and also provide solutions. All providing material to discuss about maintaining relationships, avoiding conflicts and resolving them for support habits for nonviolent communication.
