reGiStration for CourSeS
Registration for courses can be done via the Studies Information System (ÕIS): ois.tlu.ee. The deadlines for registration via ÕIS are 7th
of September 2015 in the Autumn Semester
and for the courses in the Spring Semester the registration has to be done by 8th of February 2016 at the latest. You can register for classes that start in the middle of the semester by handing in a written application to the academic unit teaching the course. You can take the exam or pass/fail test up to two times. Usually you can choose between two main exam dates. One additional time will be offered to you outside the exam session in case you did not pass the main exam. You have the right to take an exam or pass/fail assessment till the end of next semester’s intermediate week, except when your name is deleted from the matriculation register.
A member of the teaching staff has the right to establish requirements and conditions for being admitted to an exam or pass/fail assessment. These requirements are described in the course programme. If you have not fulfilled the requirements, the teaching staff has the right not to let you take the exam or pass/fail test.

If you have registered for a course in the begin- ning of the semester but decide to drop the sub- ject, you can remove your name from the list via ÕIS until the registration is open. If the course starts later, then you can turn to the coordinator and ask to be removed from the list during one week after the course has started. Be aware of the deadlines and that you cannot be removed from the list after the deadlines have passed.

If you have registered yourself for the exam or pass-fail test, but for some reason cannot attend it then you must unregister (take yourself away from the list of people who are taking the exam or pass/fail test). You must do that at least 24 hours before the exam or test takes place. In case you do not unregister yourself and it is the second time that you take the exam, you will get „F” or „MA” (fail) as a result.
If you do not get a positive result then you must take the course again. If you do not pass an obligatory course also for the second time then the university has the right to exmatriculate you.
aSSeSSment and GradeS
Assessment of knowledge is carried out in the form of tests, seminars and practical classes. Both differentiated and non-differentiated assessments of learning outcomes are used
in Tallinn University. Assessment is based on the level of the achieved learning outcomes. Learning outcomes are the knowledge, skills and attitudes or combinations thereof (competences) obtained as a result of studying.
In case of differentiated assessment a six-point grading scale is used:
‘A’ (excellent) – an outstanding and excellent level of achievement of learning outcomes char- acterised by free and creative use of knowledge and skills beyond a very good level;
‘B’ (very good) – a very good level of achieve- ment of learning outcomes characterised by
