Historical and cultural background of the Baltic States
The Objectives
- To provide a basic introduction to the history of the Baltic States form ancient times to the beginning of the 20th century.
- To map the crucial historical events/processes in the Baltic history what made these three countries historically-culturally different form each other
- Why it is needful to know the history of the region?
- For better understanding the social and political context/processes/problems of the region
The Outcomes of the Learning Object
- The basic knowledge about the history of the Baltic States
- The basic knowledge about the main cultural and historical differences between three Baltic countries and the basic knowledge about the origins of these differences.

Learning material consits of:
- 2 video lectures: Part 1 (30 minutes) and Part 2 (35 minutes).
- 4 exercises
Technical Requirements: no special software is required, only flash player (download Adobe Flash Player) and pdf reader (download Adobe Reader) are needed.
Passing the learning object takes approximately 6 academic hours
