challenged, an appeal shall be submitted to the Vice-Rector of the study field appointed by the Rector. If a decision made by the Vice- Rector is challenged, an appeal shall be submitted to the Rector. The person who has made the decision has 30 days to respond to the challenge.
(3) The procedural deadline can be extended up to 30 days by informing the presenter in writing.
(4) The decision shall be formalised in writing and forwarded to the presenter.
§ 34. Challenging decisions related to a final exam or final thesis
(1) Grades of final theses and final examinations and issues related to the defence procedure may be challenged within five working days from the announcement of the results by submitting a respective written challenge to the Director of the academic unit
(2) The Director of the academic unit shall summon an appeal committee who shall give an assessment to the challenge within 12 days from the submission of the challenge. A maximum of one member of the defence committee may belong to the appeal committee. (3) If the appeal committee does not agree with the decision of the defence committee, the Director of the academic unit shall summon a committee to make a joint decision within three working days. The committee shall include the members of the defence committee and the appeal committee. The Director of the academic unit shall make a decision that shall be forwarded to the presenter in writing.
(4) The student has the right to challenge decisions related to the appearance of discrediting information within five days from the announcement of the decision of the defence committee by submitting a written application to the Director of the academic unit. (5) The Director of the academic unit shall summon an appeal committee consisting of three members. No more than one member of the defence committee may belong to the appeal committee. The appeal committee shall analyse the student´s application and reasoning of the committee and announce the decision to the Director of the academic unit within 12 days from the submission of the challenge.
(6) The Director of the academic unit shall inform the related parties and the defence committee of his or her decision in writing. If the director of the academic unit shall maintain in force the decision of the defence committee, a motion for deleting the student from the matriculation register shall be submitted to the Vice-Rector of the study field appointed by the Rector together with additional material (the decision of the defence committee, the decision of the appeal committee, evidence, materials presented by the student).
(7) TheVice-RectorofthestudyfieldappointedbytheRectorshalldecideonthedeletion of the student from the matriculation register on the basis of the presented materials. If the Vice-Rector agrees with the decision of the Director, deletion of the student from the matriculation register due to undignified behaviour shall be initiated and the negative result "F" shall be marked onto the defence protocol.
(8) A student loses the right to defend the existing thesis in the case of proven plagiarism. In order to graduate from the university, the student shall write and defend a final thesis on a new topic.
(9) If the appeal committee/Director of the academic unit/Vice-Rector decides that disregard of academic practice did not take place, then the student has the right to defend the final thesis within two weeks, on the date given by the chairman of the final theses committee.
